UPDATE! 14.02.2010
There have been a number of new updates to the project.
Player characters:
- We're able to equip weapons, armor, jewelry, etc.
- All professions, disciplines, and creation runes are able to be applied.
- Focus skills, powers and weapon powers are showing up.
- All player attributes such as stats, skills, defense rating, damage, etc. are able to be manipulated.
Player interactions:
- The quad-tree system is implemented. This is how line of sight checks and player interactions will be handled on the emulator.
- Player and object tracking works. In other words, other players and objects will load on the screen as you're running around.
- The chat server is working. say, tell, nation, guild, etc.
- /who all is working
Terrain and buildings:
- All the land, water and trees are there.
- We have the data for roughly 4,000 building objects on the map. That
includes the complete data for SDR, Aeldreth, guards, Khan'Ov Srekal,
and many other locations. We have the data for all of the mine
locations.
Recordings:
The recordings that have been submitted have sped up development
considerably. Rich created a program that searches through the
recordings and pulls useful data out of them. So far the recordings
have been used for:
- All of the building objects and their coordinates on the map. This
allows us to recreate the map exactly like it was on the official
servers.
- All of the tokens (IDs) for the focus skills, powers, and weapon powers and their effects.
Without the recordings, collecting all of that data would've been very
time consuming. We'll also be using the recordings for other things in
the future, such as mob placement and other things.
If you have any recordings at all, submit them here. It doesn't matter if they're bugged, only last for 1 second or were created anywhere from 2003 to 2009.
Project Delay:
I'd also like to talk about the 'incident' from about a month ago in
which there was talk of a security lockdown on the project. The
security measures have been resolved. It only lasted for about a week
and the project has been back on it's normal course for several weeks
now.
